What do you think of the article above?  Which side of the ‘Gay Debate’ are you on?  Or are you sitting firmly on the fence on this one.

On the one hand Christians quote the same tried and tested bible verses to prove God says homosexuality is wrong.  On the other hand, homosexuals quote the same tried and tested bible verses to prove God didn’t say homosexuality is wrong!

The argument is unwinnable here on earth as we can twist and turn words and meanings from any source, including the bible, until kingdom come.  And that’s when we’ll know the truth!  Of course, we all have our own take on the subject and if we have faith in God and in our own convictions that we believe are strengthened by that faith, then we don’t even really need to argue.  What one believes with a firm conviction, no man can persuade otherwise and as the bible says, ‘cast not your pearls before swine.’  Quietly hold your faith and let God worry about the details.

Incidently, I had a friend who was gay.  He was also a very strong Christian.  So much so, that he firmly believed that his homosexual desires were wrong before God.  Over a couple of years he prayed about this dilemma and ultimately ended up marrying a woman!  I haven’t seen him for years so I don’t know how it goes with him now, but he was a lovely man and his faith shone through to others.  I have no idea if he really did find his ‘cure’ or he did what he thought was right regardless of how he felt.

In the end, all we can do is stick faithfully with Jesus and know that when he returns, he will put everything right, even if that ‘right’ is what we thought was wrong.
